System upgrade challenges:
Current system had ongoing experiments running, so down time needed to be minimized
System struggled with under powered independant motors
Aggregate tumbler tube would ‘walk’ off the mounts as it was turned requiring attention and possible catastrophic trial results
System agitation required accurate timing to correlate CaCO3 layer growth
Caustic environment, no metal mounts or screws could be introduced into chemical bay
Operators need simple user interface and hardware connections to run experiments
Dispersion Jet interface components
3D printed elbow joints connected pressurized ¼” tubing to off the shelf spray jets
Integrated Sytem Controller
System controller comprised of Arduino Mega, stepper motor controller and power supply, start and stop push buttons and USB connector to upload embedded code
